The Napa Valley Wine Library Collection is an important part of the thriving wine culture and wine community in the Napa Valley. The Collection is an incredible resource of books, works, and information available to everyone interested in the world's most compelling and historic beverage.

Karen MacNeil, author of The Wine Bible, in its third edition,
first published twenty-five years ago in 2001
In an age of digital noise, AI slop, and the death of fact-checking, vetted analog resources are more important than ever. In that regard, The St. Helena Public Library's Napa Valley Wine Library Collection is unparalleled. Here you can find vital materials pertaining to all things wine, from its manufacture through to its enjoyment, funded by the equally-essential Napa Valley Wine Library Association. But perhaps the St. Helena's Public Library's most valuable resource is the team behind it. These librarians are knowledgeable, passionate, and here to help. Use them!

Researching and writing Reflections of a Vintner reinforced for me the importance of preserving Napa Valley's history and the stories of those who built this extraordinary wine community. The Napa Valley Wine Library Collection serves as both a repository of knowledge and a living record of our region's evolution. It is an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to understand not only how wine is grown and made but also the people, traditions and spirit of hospitality that define Napa Valley.

Tor Kenward, author of Reflections of a Vintner
and manager of Tor Kenward Family Wines
I am a longtime admirer and champion of St. Helena Public Library's Napa Valley Wine Library Collection and of the Napa Valley Wine Library Association that created and continues to sustain it. I have drawn on the collection extensively in researching three of my recent books: Appellation Napa Valley: Building and Protecting an American Treasure, Common Ground: Charting the Future of Napa Valley, and Cabernet Sauvignon: The Love Affair that Built the Napa Valley.
The collection is a remarkable and, in many respects, irreplaceable resource. It brings together historical records, photographs, interviews, labels, rare and contemporary books, periodicals, and technical publications in a way that serves scholars, writers, wine professionals, students, and curious members of the public alike. Few resources make Napa Valley's wine history so accessible or connect in one place so many aspects of wine, including grape growing, winemaking, commerce, law, culture, food, travel, and hospitality.
We cannot honor our history if we cannot preserve and study it. For more than sixty years, the Napa Valley Wine Library Association has helped make it possible, ensuring that the voices, documents, images, and stories of this remarkable wine region remain available not only to those of us working today but also to the generations who will carry Napa Valley's story forward.
